Staff at Stevens-Swan Humane Society working through the night for storm
UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Stevens-Swan Humane Society in Utica says that workers and volunteers at the pet shelter will be staffing the facility throughout the overnight hours in preparation for Hurricane Sandy.
Jerry Kraus, spokesperson for the shelter says that it is important to have a plan in place for your pets in the event of an extended power outage, but if you have to head to a storm shelter, your pets may not be allowed. With that in mind, it is always good to have a back-up plan.
"Everybody is going to be in touch with each other, we're going to monitor it, right through the next 24 to 48 hours, what the needs will be and what we can do to help with the housing of the animals," Kraus said.
Kraus says that while there is some room at Stevens-Swan, it isn't much. However, if you have questions, you can give the shelter a call at PET-HELP (738-4357).
