Students at Myles Elementary receive customized books, all about them

By NICOLE PITT

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - The library inside Myles Elementary School in New Hartford was filled with smiles Friday morning as the New Hartford Rotary Club presented gifts to the kindergarten classes.

The Rotary Club purchased personalized books for each of the 59 students, one for each student in all three classes.

The book tells the story of each student, mentioning family members by name, and even some current events in the students lives.

The main story is about what the students want to be when they grow up.

"The child in the story is daydreaming out the window, daydreaming about what they want to be," said Donald Urbanke of the New Hartford Rotary Club. "One dreams about being a police officer one dreams about being a fireman and so on."

Last year students at Hughes Elementary School received the books and next year there are plans to hand the out to the kindergarten classes at Bradley Elementary School on Oxford Road.
