United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area announces the 2013-2015 Advancing the Common Good: Creating Opportunities for a Better Life for All request for proposals.

The four focus areas are Health, Education, Financial Self-Sufficiency and Community Safety Net, representing the building blocks of a healthy community.

Qualified agencies that impact at least one of the four focus areas and one indicator from the Leadership Alliance for a Vital Community, Indicator Study can apply.

Notifications of intent to apply are due by Noon on January 18, 2013.

The full application and all detailed information can be found at

United Way supports an array of broad-based services that assist people from various economic and geographic sectors, and target low-income, at-risk families and individuals. Evaluation occurs for the individual applicant agencies and outcomes along with the overall impact of our work as a whole.

“As the needs within our community swell and the resources dwindle, sometimes completely disappearing, we have to work harder at working together, as coalitions, as a community to understand the enormity of the issues faced,” Robin Robinson, Director of Community Investment said.
