What do you love about Utica?
UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - It's a question that was asked on Saturday at several sites around town. One of those, Utica's Union Station.
Students from Pratt Munson Williams Proctor Institute set up a living room right in the center of Union Station and interviewed people as they waited for a train or got off of one. This project is called 'The Couch Utica'. It's inspired by John Bielenberg's 'Project M' that inspires graphic designers to implement their skills to impact the community. Once the students have all of their interviews, they will publish the stories on their website. It's designed to push for more of an appreciation for the community we live in. Pratt student Abby Grimshaw came up with the idea. She said, "we really need to have conversations and connections starting in Utica and what better, more personal way can you do that besides inviting someone to your living room." Other venues around town where you may have seen a couch set up for interviews on Saturday included included Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute as well as at the Indie Garage Sale. |
