Wyman's widow Lauren takes part in memorial motorcycle ride

ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - Before the rain came on Saturday, the second annual Kurt B. Wyman Memorial Motorcycle Ride was held in Oneida County. The loss of the deputy and former marine is still felt by many.

Wyman's former colleague Deputy Robert Russell Jr. said, "I really enjoyed working with him, and it was a great loss last year when he was tragically taken from us."

Wyman's widow Lauren now rides the 75-mile ride herself, and she says she has special reason to do so. She said, "That was something to be a goal of ours, to own a motorcycle. We had actually just started looking before everything happened , so it feels fitting and appropriate that this is something we do to remember him."

Lauren Wyman says she is very religious, and so was Kurt. Her faith is what she credits with getting her through the past 15 months.

Deputy Wyman was also a seargeant in the U.S. Marines. The proceeds from the ride will be donated to the Rome Marine Veteran's Center.
