Zombie Walk coming to the Stanley Center for the Arts
UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Utica Stanley is going to be taken over by zombies this fall as the Center for the Arts teams up with the annual Utica Zombie Walk.
The event, now in its fifth year, will begin on Genesee Street at the theatre. Anyone from the community can take part when it is held on October 19.
Walk Director Kyle Riecker says that it's a fun event, and 300-500 zombies walking around Utica is not something you see ever day.
"We get people from the community together and we make them into zombies," Riecker said. "We have special effects artists on-hand who volunteer their time to zombify people, if you will, and once we get whole crowd into zombie makeup, we gather outside the venue and we walk around the city. We do this as a group activity, so it has a 'zombies are attacking the city' type of feel to it."
The walk is free of charge but residents who get involved are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item or pet food. Donations will go towards two charities - the Stevens-Swan Humane Society and the Food Bank of Central New York.
