Event Description

Christina Brown Buschmann, Physical Education teacher & coach at Clinton Elementary, is being honored at a special Pink Ribbon Day. Christina, wife of Jim Buschmann, daughter of Marlene Brown, sister of Brad Brown, Vanessa Inn, Melanie Caron, and Stacy Butcher, plus aunt, friend and mentor to 100’s, recently found out she has breast cancer.

The organizing sponsor of this event, Heather Hillage (also a Clinton Elementary Phys Ed teacher, said, “This is the first time that our field hockey team has hosted such an event. We felt the need to show Christina our support during this challenging time. Basically I ran the idea by my varsity field hockey team (who were so excited!), and then presented it to some team parents. The idea has blossomed and some team parents have taken the reigns and run!

Here are the details:
Who: Clinton Field Hockey Team Pink Ribbon Day
What: Play for the Cure (fundraiser for Breast Cancer) money will be donated to Susan G. Komen and the Baldwin Cancer Foundation. Raffles, baskets, baked goods, hairstylists (braiding, pink hair extensions, donations to locks of love).
Where: Field Hockey Field (behind Jack Boynton Pool, Norton Ave., Clinton, NY)
When: Wednesday, October 3 during our field hockey game (game time 4:30)
Why: To show support for survivors of breast cancer (specifically our modified field hockey coach and middle school PE teacher and sign a special card for her!)

When asked if I could use Christina’s name and our relationship in the Press Release, she said “Absolutely! I plan on being an advocate of early detection, staying healthy and having a positive mental attitude to help you through the tough times. I am forever grateful for the support.”
