Event Description

For The Good, Inc. will host an African American Cultural Event on February 28th – March 4th 2013 at the Utica Public Library where portions of the Oneida County Black History Archive will be on display.

This display will commemorate Black History Month and will culminate on March 4th at 5:30 with a “meet and greet,” a Soul Food tasting, a presentation of art work by local Black artist Joseph Hinkson, the Jr. ROTC Honor Guard and short speaking presentations by Utica College President Todd Hutton, Professor Jan Deamicis and Archive Director Cassandra Harris-Lockwood.

Textiles and clothing from the Gambia and Kenya will be on display as well as artifacts, photographs, maps and documents from For The Good’s Black History Archive. A video loop of photographs from the Archive photo gallery will be on display as well.
For the Good, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization founded in 2002 and based in historic Utica, New York. For The Good works in conjunction with Utica College in the development of the Oneida County Black History Archive.
