Event Description

The Kirkland Art Center’s “KAC ROADHOUSE hosted by Romanelli Communications” presents Lake Street Dive, a Brooklyn band whose rising star finds its way to Clinton on Wednesday, May 8th at 8:00 p.m.

Tickets $20 ($15 Members)

This unlikely combo creates infectious, naturally exhilarating music. Pulling in familiar elements and irreverently scrambling and recombining them, Lake Street Dive are at once jazz-schooled, DIY-motivated, and classically pop obsessed. Beginning with catchy songs that are openhearted and inquisitive, this quartet injects them with an irresistible blend of abandon and precision. Hailing from disparate locales, the members of Lake Street Dive first met when they were students at Boston’s New England Conservatory. Composed of drummer Mike Calabrese, bassist Bridget Kearney, vocalist Rachael Price, and trumpet-wielding guitarist Mike “McDuck” Olson, Lake Street Dive encompasses a myriad of possibilities within its members’ collective experiences, and the result is a vivid, largely acoustic, groove-driven strain of indie-pop. “It seems the only limitation we have,” Kearney explains, “is that we try to make music that we would like listening to.”

Please remember that the ROADHOUSE series is more of an open floor setup unlike the traditional Coffeehouse series. The show will begin at 8:00pm, doors at 7:30pm. There will be beer and wine provided through a cash bar from our good friends at Nola’s. Coffee from Utica Coffee and treats by Anita.
