UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Utica woman makes the most of the Halloween season every year, despite a challenging obstacle to overcome in her daily life.

For the past 15 years, Joyce Robinson has been carving pumpkins.

"You have to have a lot of patience and a nice positive attitude about the whole thing," Joyce said.

You would never guess by looking at the details and craftsmanship in her work that Joyce has Parkinson's Disease.

"I have good dexterity in my hands and fingers, I think from doing all that close work, because I don't shake."

Joyce carves styrofoam pumpkins because they last longer and this year, she has put her pumpkins from the past 15 years of carving on display, with the help of her daughter, Cheryl. Joyce says she hopes the display helps the whole community enjoy her work as much as she's had creating it.

"I hope they get as much enjoyment as I have. I think that's what it boils down to."

Joyce has also given away many of her pumpkins to young children from the neighborhood over the years and hopes to add ten more pumpkins to her collection in time for next Halloween.
