Local group creates score, performs to silent film at Uptown

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - In the spirit of Halloween, the Uptown Theater hosted a screening of the silent 1922 horror film Nosferatu on Sunday.

What made this screening unique is a local group called "The Real Burnouts" were asked to create a score to go along with the movie and they played it live in the theater during the screening.

Paul Crowther, of The Real Burnouts, said, "We had a projector and we just kind of put on a movie and just play along to it. The best thing about doing it here was getting a lot of people together to come out and enjoy a place that people don't enjoy nearly enough."

About 50 people attended what was the kickoff of the underground film series. Young Frankenstein was also on the big screen Sunday.
