UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - While locals enjoyed a good time at the 2014 Heart Run and Walk Expo on the campus of Utica College, Friday, one booth was very candid their promotion of heart health for women.
The "Go Red for Women" booth, sporting the iconic red dress logo that goes along with the campaign, provided a way for visitors to learn more about how to become heart health, and how to take preventative measures before risking disease.
"Heart disease is the number one killer of women, more than all forms of cancer combined," said campaign Chairperson, Kristy Nole. "A lot of people don't realize that, and so we're really trying to spread the word and raise funding for research and programs to get the word out."
The Annual Go Red for Women luncheon will take place this year on May 7th, at Hart's Hill Inn in Whitesboro.
Sign up sheets were located at the Expo, Friday, with chances to win a free seat to the event.
