Blood drives held all over Central New York

(WKTV) - The American Red Cross says there is no better gift to give this holiday season than the gift of life. Blood drives were held all over Central New York.

Heidi Chrisman, a blood collection specialist says, "Our donors get spoiled here. We get them a heating pad, a TV and they're very comfortable."

Karen Anderson donated blood. She said, "I have actually done this the last several years on Christmas Eve. They're a great group of people, so it's really fun to come here on Christmas Eve and it's just a nice way to give to people who are in need of help."

Red Cross officials say the next two weeks are typically slower donation weeks, so they are urging people to call their local Red Cross chapter and set up an appointment to help your fellow community members who may need that help.
