Local Marines need your help in collecting toys for Christmas

ILION, N.Y. (WKTV) - Some local Marines can use your help so they can help area children! The Ilion Detachment of the Marine Corps League is handing out some toys and presents to area families in need this weekend.

They have collected more than 1,000 toys so far.

The Marine Corps League started distributing the toys Saturday and will continue on Sunday but so far, organizers say they may not have enough toys for everyone who has asked for assistance.

Local Toys for Tots Coordinator Dick Mayhew said, "Right now we have 332 families that are coming through today, which amounts to 1300 children. I don't think I'm gonna have enough toys, so last minute, buy some toys bring them to our boxes or bring them to the league."

Toy boxes are located at national sponsors of Toys For Tots, like any Toyota dealership, Dollar General and Family Dollar stores.
