Shoppers find peace on Clinton Stroll


CLINTON, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Clinton Chamber of Commerce's Annual Holiday Shoppers Stroll provided a refreshing event from busy Black Friday shopping.

Shoppers enjoyed fresh cotton candy, popcorn as well as horse drawn carriage rides as they shopped throughout the day.

Many shoppers saying they chose to come to the village the day after Thanksgiving rather than a mall or shopping center because they value the importance of keeping business local.

Also enjoying the peace and nostalgic feeling shopping in the village brings.

The event included the lighting of the 28 foot Blue Spruce tree with over 1,000 lights as well as Kirkland's 47th Annual Parade.

The Shopping Stroll continues on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. There will also be a Crazy Hat Parade starting at the corner of Chenango and College Streets.

Story-telling will be at the Clinton Historic Society at 4:00 p.m., followed by a "Community Sing" on the Village Green.

A "Christmas Carol" story telling will be read at the Stone Presbyterian Church at 7:00 p.m.
