Annual "Stuff the Bus" initiative kicks off in New Hartford

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - The annual "stuff the Bus" event kicked off its 2011 season Friday night, with one goal in mind - to fill a school bus to the brim with toys for children in times to make the holidays a little bit brighter.

The kickoff night was held at the New Hartford Shopping Center where Mohawk Valley residents dropped off all types of toys for kids in need.

Toys will be distributed by Catholic Charities, Kids Oneida-Herkimer, UCP and Keys Program.

In 2010, the initiative collected over 8,500 toys for children in Central New York.

The bus was at the New Hartford Shopping Center on Friday, November 18 until 9 p.m.

On Saturday, November 26, the bus will be parked at the Herkimer Walmart from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

On December 3, the bus will be at the Rome Walmart, and on Saturday, December 10, you can help stuff the bus at Toys R Us in New Hartford from Noon to 4 p.m.

Stuff The Bus is an effort thanks to NEWSChannel 2, radio stations from Roser Communications (KISS-FM, Bug Country, WUTQ), Birnie Bus, and Fidelis Care.
