Folts Home in Herkimer launches 2011 Angel Appeal campaign

HERKIMER, N.Y. (WKTV) - Folts Home in Herkimer launched its annual "Angel Appeal" holiday fundraiser on Tuesday.

The assisted living facility will place a paper angel figure on their holiday blessing tree for every donation made to the campaign.

Former Dolgeville Football Head Coach Jerry Walczak is this year's Honorary Chairperson for the Angel Appeal campaign, and the staff at the Folts Home says he was chosen because of his dedication to the area as well as his volunteerism at the Folts Home.

"It's a way to contribute to the community," Walczak said of the campaign. "It's a way to give back. This program has been going on for 68 years. I know the community has changed, but the attitude that we get to display continues."

The money raised from the program will help fund specialized programs and services for residents.
