Metlife donates Thanksgiving turkeys to local Food Bank

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A local business is playing their part in bringing the holidays home for all residents in the area.

The Community Food Bank of Greater Utica received turkeys from Metlife, as a donation for those in need on Thanksgiving.

The insurance company contacted the Food Bank indicating their desire to help out, and on Friday the two sides struck a deal to get the turkeys to the Mohawk Valley.

"I got a call on Friday, and I was told they purchased the turkeys, and they were purchased from the Hannaford on Mohawk Street," said Food Bank Director, Mark Wolber. "And they threw in some additional money on top of it, so we have over 150 turkeys that we will distribute from the Food Bank on Monday morning."

The Food Bank is located at 230 James Street, temporarily, as they are waiting for the completion of their Bleecker Street facility.
