Tops donates 100 turkeys and sides to Cooperstown Food Pantry

COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. (WKTV) - With Thanksgiving exactly one week away, one regional grocery store chain is looking to make things a little brighter for those in need.

Thursday morning, Tops Supermarkets donated 100 turkeys to the Cooperstown Food Pantry, along with 100 boxes of stuffing, 100 cans of corn and 100 cans of green beans.

Those with the Food Bank say every little bit helps, especially with the increased need they've been seeing.

"I would estimate we've seen about a 20% increase since last year," said Audrey Murray, the Co-Director of the Cooperstown Food Pantry. "Last month we saw 182 families. So far this month, we're already over 100. We've had a record day yesterday. We saw 22 families which is quite unusual for us."

The Cooperstown Food Pantry is also part of Feeding America, which is the largest hunger relief organization in the country.
