Chefs prepare giant gingerbread village for holidays at Turning Stone

VERONA, N.Y. (WKTV) - At the end of the week, two months of hard work will come to an end for the pastry team at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino.

The giant gingerbread village is being built for the holidays, and we're told everything is ahead of schedule. The tasty town has 11,000 pieces of gingerbread and about 400 pounds of frosting.

The sight is located in the hotel lobby.

Roughly ten people were hard at work constructing the village Wednesday afternoon and say it's by far their favorite project to work on.

Assistant Pastry Chef Megan Brown says that for a group that spends their days behind the scenes, it's nice to be noticed.

"We get to see everyone's smiling faces," Brown said. "Everyone gets really excited. A lot of people come to see this every year so it makes it worth it."

Brown went on to say that the buildings are the same as last year, but will be "more flashy."

"Get ready to see a lot of glitter," she said.
