Rescue Missions need help to help others this Thanksgiving

By WKTV News

Every Thanksgiving, the Rescue Mission puts on a Great Thanksgiving Banquet for those in need, and this year they need your help.

The Utica Rescue Mission is looking for dozens of turkey donations in order to supply enough food for all the families.

The mission is looking to serve about 1,200 meals this Thanksgiving, and the need this year is greater than years past.

"We right now don't have that many turkey, because all year long we've been experiencing larger than normal volumes of people coming in - almost ten percent over last year," said Reverend Bill Dodge, Director of the Utica Rescue Mission. "As a result, our turkey stock pretty much has gotten depleted and we have 16 of them right now. We actually need 60."

Anyone who is interested in donating may contact the Rescue Mission's Food Services Department at 315-735-1645, extension 131 or drop off donations to food services at 201 Rutger Street.

The Rome Rescue Mission, meanwhile, needs help with the fixings - potatoes, stuffing, green beans, etc.

The Rome Rescue Mission is on East Dominick Street and they can be reached by phone at 315-337-2516.
