Tiger Woods: Visit to Central New York was "a great day"


VERNON, N.Y. (WKTV) - Tiger Woods has concluded his appearance in Central New York after winning the Notah Begay III Foundation Challenge. Thousands of fans came out to get a glimpse of the world's top-ranked golfer.

Tiger was joined by the foundation founder, Notah Begay, plus Camilo Villegas and Mike Weir. Tiger went home with the most money for charity totaling $230,000 to Villegas' $200,000. Begay won the final hole to pocket $70,000 but Mike Weir went home with nothing for the second straight year.

Thousands lined fairways and greens of the Atunyote Golf Club, all to see a glimpse of golf's best player. "To have so few people here and a bird's eye view of the greatest golfer of all time is pretty amazing," said Matt Frechette of Jordan, New York.

Tiger himself said he had a great day. His first reaction to the course was "wet" but said that the greens were perfect.
