NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - The audience was amazing Saturday night at the Yahnundasis Golf Club as world-famous mentalist Robert Channing took to the state for a rare local performance all in the name of the New Hartford Fire Department at "A Night of Paying It Forward."

Channing is a mentalist, hypnotist, mind reader and knows E.S.P. He performs all over the world including in Las Vegas and on national television.

Channing, who resides in New Hartford when he's not performing, lost his newborn son about four years ago. The New Hartford Fire Department responded to the incident, which is why Channing is so committed to the organization.

Hundreds attended the formal event at the Yahnundasis Golf Club which included a casino night cocktail hour and raffle prizes donated by local organizations.

Channing took to the state and used his mind-reading capabilities to stun the audience time after time.

NEWSChannel 2's Kristen Copeland was the host of the event, and Channing even accurately predicted what she was going to wear. He sent her the envelope containing his answer back in March, even though she said she bought the outfit last week.

Channing also predicted what Judge Bernadette Romano was going to wear. Along with his dress predictions, Channing guessed what unknown guests would answer in a series of questions weeks ahead of time.

In total, about $35,000 was raised for the New Hartford Volunteer Fire Department. In return, firefighters presented Channing and his wife with a plaque that will hang in the firehouse on Oxford Road.
