ILION, N.Y. (WKTV) - A large number of Herkimer County residents went out for breakfast on Palm Sunday, and they may have been familiar with their particular waiter or waitress.

Catholic Charities of Herkimer County held its annual "Breakfast of Champions" on Sunday morning at Francesca's Banquet Hall in Ilion.

Catholic Charities selected area business and political leaders to be "Champions" and serve the guests of the breakfast. Among those volunteering were Assemblyman Marc Butler and Herkimer County Sheriff Christopher Farber, just to name a few.

The fundraiser raises money to help the organization help residents of our community.

"(the money goes) directly for our emergency assistance, which is a need every single day, which is our mission, to help others when in need," said Mary Beth Napolitano, Catholic Charities Fundraising Chair.

Besides the tickets sold for the breakfast, a raffle was held for prizes donated by area businesses.
