FRANKFORT, N.Y. (WKTV) - While fundraising may have at one time been a way to earn extra money, these days the Herkimer ARC say it has become critical to keep the organization afloat.

More than 100 golfers teed off at Pine Hills Golf Course in Frankfort on Monday for the 8th annual Enabler Golf Tournament. In total, 27 teams took part, bringing in roughly $40,000 for the agency.

"We employ and provide services for 640 people every day at the agency," said Kevin Crosley, President and CEO of HARC. "Bottom line is, with what New York State has been doing for us, the last few years has not been favorable. We continue to look for additional revenue streams that help us fund the programs that have been under siege from New York State Budget cuts."

The golf tournament is the HARC's second biggest fundraiser next to a wine auction that happens in the fall.
