Rain doesn't stop Gems Along The Mohawk vendors

HERKIMER, N.Y. (WKTV) - Gems Along the Mohawk is celebrating Harvest Fest this weekend.

It's an opportunity for residents and tourists alike to learn about the history of the Erie Canal and how important agriculture is to the area.

Saturday morning, there were several vendors set up outside, but there were another 70 indoors doing demonstrations for festival goers.

Dr. Renee Scialdo Shevat said, "Making jewelry, putting together baseball trivia games or showing how Alpaca is made into designer garments. We're doing an awful lot inside and outside but I'm really appreciative of the die-hards doing this outside for us."

Harvest Fest continues Sunday. There will be a petting zoo, a halloween costume contest and a visit from Button the Clown.
