Temperatures rise, as does public pool attendance

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - As temperatures rise, so does attendance at Utica's three city pools - Buckley, Seymour and Addison Miller.

Kids taking part in a private program were lucky Friday morning, as they got to swim hours before the city pools opened to the public at 1 p.m.

Sean Brown, the head of the city's Youth Bureau says that on a typical summer day, they average 75-100 swimmers. During this heat wave, however, Brown says it's been more like 100-150 a day.

The city pools are open Monday through Saturday 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.; the watering holes (sprinklers) in the city's parks are in operation Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
