UCP Tradewinds Prom brings in hundreds of students for a night to remember

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The prom season continues in Central New York with a very special event that went on Friday evening Utica.

The Tradewinds Prom brought in hundreds of students with disabilities from across New York State. They were picked up Friday afternoon in limousines donated by Vintage Limo.

Organizers say these students attend schools that don't have dances and their hope is that the teens will remember this night for a long time.

"I think it's an experience that everyone should have and whether they have a disability or not and since we are a school that serves students with special needs - it's certainly one of our top priorities," said Patricia Carey of the School Age Services at Upstate Cerebral Palsy.

Some of the students couldn't wait to get to the dance floor to start the party. It's the 12th year that Upstate Cerebral Palsy is hosting the Tradewinds prom.
