WESTMORELAND, N.Y. - An effort to open up the town pool in Westmoreland next summer is getting new attention. Board members discussed the issue at Monday's town board meeting.
The pool has sat empty since 2015. Many residents attended Monday's town board meting to urge the board to find a way to utilize the pool next season.
The board is considering three options.
1. Review the budget for next year to see if the town can cover the insurance payment that the town is required to carry.
2. The town board will consider donating the pool to the Westmoreland Summer Activities Association with the stipulation that they open the pool as a town pool.
3. The town board will consider a public referendum on whether to financially support the pool.
Board members did not specify a deadline to make a decision.
