On Monday, April 17, this year’s Go The Distance team will begin their 12-week journey to 9.3 miles. The Go The Distance training program prepares a team of first-time Boilermaker 15K runners for the big race being held this year on Sunday, July 9.
The team met for the first time Tuesday evening at the Boilermaker Road Race headquarters on Court Street. This year’s 12 members got to meet their coach, Joe Wilczynski, and their teammates, as well as some of the committee that read their letters and chose them for this year's team.
Each member shared a little bit about why they decided to take this journey, learned more about what the 12-week program will entail, and hopefully got motivated to lace up and hit the pavement!
This year’s team includes: Frank and Megan Emmerich, Karen Palmer, Alex Samoray, Elizabeth Desanctis, Bryn Davis, Alyssa Zionc, Julie Hayduk, Christopher Mandry, Giselle Wisdom and Daniel Karrat.
Congratulations to the 2017 Go The Distance team, and good luck as you begin your journey! We look forward to learning more about each runner during the NEWSChannel 2 Live at Five Newshour on Mondays during the training program.
