ROME, NY-- The Fort Stanwix Fire Department is hosting a bottle and can drive for a local 18-month-old who is fighting a rare form of leukemia.
Mya Corigliano, of Rome, was diagnosed acute myeloid leukemia (AML) on Aug. 16 last year at 13 weeks old. She received a bone marrow transplant from one of her older sisters four months later, but she relapsed and began chemotherapy treatment. The chemotherapy was unsuccessful and she is now being kept comfortable at her home with her parents and four older sisters. According to her mother Brandi Corigliano, doctors told the family Mya might not make it to Christmas.
The event will take place 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Dec. 10 at the Stanwix Heights Volunteer Fire Department, on 6580 Bartlett Road.
All proceeds will go to Corigliano’s family.
