COOPERSTOWN – As four teams vie for two spots in the Major League Baseball World Series, the Baseball Hall of Fame is getting ready to welcome artifacts from the 2017 champs.
And don't let the construction fool you – the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown is open.
October 28 is game four of the World Series, and you can watch the game right in the Hall of Fame. Right now, artifacts are entering the hall from the regular season, and curators are getting ready to travel to the World Series to pick up special pieces – just as they are – to preserve for all time at the hall.
“That's the history of the item, you know – if a guy scores the winning run by sliding across home plate, we want that dirt on the jersey because that helps us tell the story of why that jersey is so important, why that artifact is a part of baseball history,” said Jon Shestakofsky of the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Today was the last day of construction on the facade of the hall, and the scaffolding will come down tomorrow.
