UTICA -- Historic Old St. John's Church held its annual spring concert on Monday, in celebration of its 200 year anniversary.

Dozens of people came out to kick off the church's bicentennial.

The church's choir sang songs spanning many centuries.

The church is celebrating its anniversary, throughout the year, with a lineup that lasts from summer to fall.

Church members say being a part of the church is like having a home away from home.

"When I came to Historical St. John's it just felt like family," Bicentennial Co-Chair Anita Brown said. "It was such a togetherness. Such a spitituality for the church that it just, it feels like home. So it's a great community to be a part of."

Historic Old Saint John's Church is the second oldest church in New York State.

Many of its members have been a part of the church for many generations.

Some of the other events the church has planned include:

June 21- A golf tournament and dinner at Twin Ponds Golf and Country Club.

July 9-Tours of the church in conjunction with the Landmarks Society of Greater Utica at 6 p.m.

Sept. 8 and 9-A Parish Bazaar

Nov. 4-A celebratory Mass with Bishop Robert J. Cunningham, presiding, at 1p.m. and dinner at 3 p.m. at Harts Hill Inn.
