There was a four-car accident on Route 12 northbound in Utica, as well as a few fender-benders throughout the city. If you’ll be on the roads today, be sure to slow down and leave enough space between your vehicle and the one in front of you.

Another area of concern has been in New Hartford where traffic is very busy with last-minute holiday shopping.

The New Hartford highway superintendent says this is one of the most stressful times for plow drivers with so many cars out on the roads, but making sure everyone is safe is their main concern.

"Trying to keep ahead of it for traffic,” Highway Superintendent Richard Sherman said. “Traffic is heavy right now for shoppers and we’re trying to keep it the best we can and the safest that we can for their travels.”

NEWSChannel 2 crews will be out and about this afternoon to monitor the areas experiencing heavy snow.
