UTICA, NY – Utica College paid tribute to local Veterans Monday with a concert at the college’s Strebel Auditorium.

The special evening featured both the UC Choir and UC Concert Band performing a variety of patriotic and popular songs.

The event was free and open to the public, however concert goers were encouraged to bring non-perishable food items and monetary donations for the Feed Our Vets food pantry.

Donations that Feed Our Vets Executive Director Richard Synek says are especially necessary this time of year.

“We feed Veterans every single day. This is great during the holidays because we get a month’s worth of food that’s collected throughout the holidays. Starting on Veterans’ Day through Thanksgiving and Christmas, then in January the light switch goes off and we’re scrambling for donations. So this is also a plea to keep giving to the Veterans.”

Feed Our Vets supports thousands of local Veterans, providing them with a week’s worth of free food each month
