Does Michael Arcuri Still Have Campaign Contributions from a Convicted Felon?

By Laurie Benedict

The Ray Meier campaign is saying that Michael Arcuri has not returned campaign contributions related to convicted felon Robert Skip Anderson.

Meiers campaign director, John Konkus, tells Newschannel 2 just over 4-thousand dollars remains in Arcuris campaign. The money in question comes from Susanne Shannon, the wife of Whitestown Town Supervisor Matt Shannon.

Konkus said Matt Shannon is affiliated with Anderson and Konkus believes that money should be returned.

In response, a representative with the Arcuri campaign said quote:
"All funds have been returned. They are just trying to change the subject following Mr. Foley's inappropriate behavior. Bottom line, all the money was returned"

The inappropriate behavior she is referring to is the recent investigation on former Florida Congressman Mark Foley. Foley allegedly emailed an underage page asking for photographs.

The connection here is that the Meier campaign accepted 25-thousand dollars from members of congress who supposedly knew of Foley’s past. The campaign director for the Meier campaign tells us that money will not be returned unless Foley is found guilty.

Meier and Arcuri will face off live on Newschannel 2 this coming Wednesday, October 11th. A debate will be held at the Stanley Theater, in Utica, from 6:30 to 8:00.
