Utica Mayor Tim Julian has announced that he will seek the Republican Party nomination for the New York State Senate seat currently held by Ray Meier.

Julian’s announcement is the latest step in the political dance that began when Rep. Sherwood Boehlert decided last month not to seek re-election to Congress.

Oneida County Legislator William Morehouse is the only Democrat to enter the race at this point.
