Wednesday, NEWSChannel 2 aired the first of two, hour long, political forums on the race to become New York State's next state senator from the 47th district. These debates, taped last week, feature the four candidates vying for the senate seat. Wednesday's debate featured the two democrats campaigning to become their party's nominee. They are attorney Leon Koziol and former New York State Supreme Court Justice John Murad.

Among the districts in the 47th district include all or part of Oneida, Lewis, and St. Lawrence County stretching all the way to Massena, at the northern border of New York State.
