Republican Candidates For the 47th District Senate Seat Debate (Added 4:15 pm)

Tonight on NEWSChannel 2, we will air the second of our two political forums between the candidates running for the 47th senate seat.  This second debate will feature the two Republican candidates vying to represent their party.  They are Utica Mayor Tim Julian and Oneida County Executive Joe Griffo.  Be sure to stay tuned for our second, hour long political forum tonight at 7 p.m.

Joe Griffo has been Oneida County Executive since 2003.  His first venture into public office began in 1989, when he was elected to the Oneida County Board of Legislatures.  In 1991, he started his first, of three terms, as mayor of Rome.

Tim Julian is the current mayor of Utica, which he's been since 2000 following the resignation of Ed Hanna.  Julian was then elected to the post in 2003.  Mr. Julian's foray into public office began in 1999 when he was elected Common Council president in the City of Utica.
