UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Voters began pulling levers in many areas of Oneida County at 6am this morning, but many questions and concerns arose.
Most voters calling simply didn't know where to vote.
"I think people get confused, they don't know where to vote and they go to the wrong polling site," said Angela Pedone Longo, Oneida County Board of Elections Democratic Chair.
Longo, and Deputy Republican Commissioner Cathy Dumka work with six others in the staff to resolve issues at voting precincts. At times, voters names weren't on the books each person voting is required to sign, prompting a call to elections officials.
"What I did tell the inspector was to go ahead and give them a paper ballot and let them fill out an affidavit envelope and this way their vote will be counted."
In many cases the B.O.E. can search through its database to verify voting eligibility but If voters are not on the rolls, they may not be able to vote.
Residents also have the option of getting a court order to vote which the B.O.E. must abide by.
If you need a court order, and live in Oneida County, the B.O.E. elections has numbers for judges who can provide that order if you are a registered voter.
