Tyksinski wins Republican primary for New Hartford town supervisor

NEW HARTFORD, NY (WKTV) - Patrick Tyksinski won the Republican primary for New Hartford Town Supervisor Tuesday night after his challanger, John Kalil conceded to him.

When Kalil did pull out of the race, he trailed Tyksinski by nearly 300 votes, with all but two precincts in.

This was the first time Kalil tried running for public office. Tyksinski has run for several position and held a few in both the town and village.

It was a kind of redemption for Tyksinski who ran for this very same position four years ago and lost in a primary to current Supervisor Earle Reed.

Tyksinski, a CPA, also was the town comptroller in the late 90's. Tyksinski says he was obviously excited to win Tuesday, however he says there is still plenty of work left ahead of him.

"Were going to do some more walking in the neighborhoods and now were trying to hit everyone in the town. We were concentrating on republicans before and now were going to hit everyone up. Were just going to step it up a bit but do what we have done in the past," Tyksinski said.

The primary winner will now hold three lines in November against Democratic challenger Bill Morris. Tyksinski will be on the Conservative and Independence lines along with the Republican line he won Tuesday night.
