Story Updated: Mar 1, 2013

ILION, N.Y. (WKTV) - A luncheon held Friday afternoon in the Village of Ilion honored numerous people for their efforts in creating a healthier Herkimer County.

Herkimer County HealthNet held its second annual 'Creating Healthy Places Recognition Luncheon' on Friday at Francesca's Banquet Hall.

Those recognized included people involved in improving parks, playgrounds, trails and other places to exercise. Organizers say what has been done so far is just the beginning.

"We're looking at enhancing the stuff we've already done," said Herkimer County HealthNet Executive Director Adam Hutchinson. "We're moving from a startup phase, more into an enhancement phase."

Herkimer County HealthNet administers the five-year 'Creating Healthy Places to Live, Work and Play' grant from the New York State Department of Health.
