United Way annouces 2012 fundraising projections

UTICA N.Y. (WKTV) - The United Way of the Valley and
Greater Utica Area announced its 2012 fundraising campaign final projections Friday.

Officials said $2.2 million dollars was raised by the local community by way of salary deductions and other fundraising efforts throughout the year.

That money will given to local non-profit programs in need.

Part of the fundraising campaign was the Great Community Challenge. The winners, by way of a drawing, were announced during Friday's Utica College Hockey Game.

About 800 people participated in this new contest.

Overall, more than 8-thousand donors gave to this past year's campaign.
