“Governor Paterson has continually showed the leadership our state will need to get out of the looming fiscal crisis and today was no exception. By confronting this issue now, we will reduce the impact it could have on the State’s future finances. The belt tightening will require sacrifice, but I look forward to working with my colleagues on reigning in spending that has been out of control for far too long. When the Senate returns in August, we will be taking a hard look at these fiscal concerns as well as addressing legislation that will help taxpayers with the burden of property taxes and home heating costs.”
