Reaction from Legislator Larry Tanoury Jr. on the County's "Green Initiative"

Tools

On June 26, 2008, Larry Tanoury, Jr., D-Utica, proposed “Go Green” legislation for the procurement of recycled products in the county building.

The legislation was co-sponsored by Joseph Furgol and Shannon Scott, both Democrats from Utica.

This legislation has been forwarded to the Internal Affairs Committee and has yet to be acted on.

Tanoury released the following statement in response to Picente’s announcement.

“I find it rather unfortunate that this very important issue has yet to be acted upon by the leadership in Oneida County. It seems that Mr. Picente is attempting to bypass the need to mandate - in the form of an actual law - proper procurement procedures by simply issuing a press release, ridden with political rhetoric and no actual long-term plan. I would ask the County Executive to join with me in demanding that the legislature act on this very important legislation, if he truly is concerned about our environment.”
