AHL to Utica: County Executive Picente's Comments
UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The long-awaited announcement of the AHL's return to Utica finally came on Friday, to the pleasure of many officials who worked to bring the team to the Mohawk Valley.
Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente said, “Oneida County was proud to partner with Mohawk Valley Garden, the Vancouver Canucks and the AHL to bring this exciting project to fruition. The Comets will provide a significant boost to our county’s economy through the new jobs created; sales tax generated and increased activity in Utica’s downtown core. We will continue to work with all those involved to ensure that arena renovations are completed in a timely fashion, and the team its players and front office have a smooth transition into our great community.”
