UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The long-awaited announcement of the AHL's return to Utica finally came on Friday, to the pleasure of many officials who worked to bring the team to the Mohawk Valley.
Carl Annese, Chair of the Upper Mohawk Valley Memorial Auditorium Authority said, “The goal of the Authority is to provide affordable family entertainment to Oneida County and surrounding areas, as well as, act as a steward to the Aud which is an architectural gem. I’m proud that my fellow board members and I have been able to achieve both of these goals ,through the $5 million in new state investment and the commitment by the Canucks to bring their AHL team to our facility. We are grateful to Governor Cuomo, Senator Griffo, Assemblyman Brindisi, County Executive Picente and Mayor Palmieri for their leadership and support. We are confident that their efforts will pay big dividends for our facility and the community we serve.”
