Waterville residents react after body of missing hunter found

By EVAN WHITE

WATERVILLE - During the near two weeks that State Police spent looking for Greg Williams, they never thought that they would find him here seven miles away from his Waterville home in Brookfield.

The Waterville Streets are empty, and things seem quiet, but there are many people talking, as they have been ever since Greg Williams disappeared four months ago.

Part of the talk has to do with the fact so many people from this area joined police and rangers to scour the Waterville area in hopes of finding Williams alive. The volunteer's efforts lasted a week.

Wednesday, State Police confirmed that his body was found near these train tracks. Waterville residents are overwhelmed with feelings regarding the death of Williams.

Tom Morgan says he feels bad for the family, but says the healing process can now begin for everyone in Waterville.

"In a way we are happy that it's ... he's found and he ... he can be put to rest," said Tom Morgan, a Waterville Business Owner.

"Everybody feels terrible about it," said Steve Cleary. "It's a little closure to the family."

The Williams family understandably declined to comment on the tragedy that they have been going through for the last four months. Police are expected to release more information on the matter Thursday.
