UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV)- An author from New York Mills presented his new book at the BOCES on Court Street today.

Gary Porcelli, who is also a retired Utica City School District teacher, said during his years working in the district he found that one of the most common issues for students was peer pressure and the consequences of getting involved with the wrong group.

"I wanted to get the message to kids that it's ok to be yourself and stand up for what you believ, even if it isn't the way the crowd would go," Porcelli said.

Porcelli taught at in the district for more than 30 years. He said the book is geared toward students in grades 6 through 10.
