Boonville man arrested after police find marijuana growing in basement

BOONVILLE, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Boonville man was charged in connection to the discovery of marijuana growing in his basement.

Scott Weaver, 54, of Academy Street turned himself into police on Thursday.

Boonville Police said in August they responded to his home on a check the welfare complaint. When they entered his home officers found marijuana growing in the basement, but didn't find Weaver.

Police later obtained a search warrant and and found ten marijuana plants, an irrigation system, fluorescent lighting, heating lamps, fans, potting soil and several planting pots. The materials were removed. He was charged with unlawfully growing cannabis and criminal possession of marijuana.

He was arraigned in the town of Ava Court and then released to return to the village of Boonville Court.
